California Statewide Telemedicine Hub
Connecting healthcare professionals across public and private institutions to patients in need, regardless of geographic distance.
Since the dawn of videoconferencing, telehealth technology was considered to be the future of healthcare, particularly for rural locations. Now, telemedicine is in widespread use around the world. DSG designed the UCSF Telemedicine project for the deployment of telemedicine end points for display and capture of audio and visual signals, and hub equipment for control of multipoint sessions. DSG worked closely with the university, the State of California, San Francisco General Hospital, and approximately 300 telemedicine endpoints, statewide. It required the coordination of a vast number of experts and end users: UCSF offices; the hospital itself, where OSHPD regulatory agencies require specific design detail be followed; healthcare facility conference rooms and videoconference sites; the Department of Public Health; the campus at University of California at Berkeley; and many other sites. In addition, DSG provided the custom design of telemedicine carts.
"The mission of the California Telehealth Network is to promote advanced information technologies and services to improve access to high-quality healthcare focusing on medically underserved and rural Californians."
