Frequently Asked Questions From Architects

What healthcare industry experience do you have?

Healthcare clients have retained us to plan and design projects ranging from large academic medical centers to community hospitals, simulation centers and medical office buildings.

Clinical projects typically include operating and interventional rooms for general surgery and neurosurgery, orthopedic, urology and intra-operative procedures. We also design audiovisual systems for hybrid operating rooms where combinations of procedures are performed. We work on non-clinical projects, too, such as auditoriums and meeting rooms. And we have considerable experience designing telemedicine and other video teleconferencing systems.

Our case studies provide examples of our work and the problems we've solved.

What experience do you have working with healthcare architects?

We've worked in partnership with a broad range of firms, including large international firms and smaller regional organizations. Experience shows that we add the most value when we're involved from the proposal stage. We have, however, successfully collaborated on projects as it evolved.

How do you help architects plan and design a healthcare facility?

It depends when we are brought into the planning and design process. Frankly, the sooner the better. At the proposal stage, architects benefit from our experience in specialty areas. Our participation also helps identify the technology requirements needed to produce a realistic project budget.

At the design stage, we can specify audiovisual systems that accommodate a wide variety of equipment manufacturers. Our brand-neutral design approach, for example, saves money by providing the healthcare organization with the equipment it wants without getting locked in to costly long-term equipment and service contracts.

What value do you bring to architectural design teams?

Quite simply, we're able to efficiently mobilize the right people and resources, and promptly deliver cost-effective, intelligent technology solutions.

Our knowledge of the architectural, engineering, and construction processes enables us to add value in ways that sometimes surprise our clients. Our understanding of evolving audiovisual technologies, for example, often prevents costly construction or operational problems.

Whether a project is innovative, traditional or relatively straightforward, we take the same forward-thinking approach with technology decisions. That means planning and designing a healthcare environment with an eye to efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability.
